Celebrating 25 Years of Piccolino
WORDS: Ange Seddon
We were invited to an exclusive VIP evening to celebrate 25 years of Piccolinos restaurants and attended the relatively new Piccolinos Grande Cafe in Wilmslow. The dress code was silver and I can honestly say the whole place sparkled.
Anyone who knows me can attest that I love all things Italian and would always choose to pop into Piccolinos Grande Cafe in Manchester, or my local one (Bramhall) whenever I get the chance. They are places with the warmest of welcomes and of course, fabulous food.
For this special event, we were treated to an array of canapés and a great selection of drinks. With it being such an auspicious occasion the champagne flowed. A chilled glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut - don’t mind if I do, grazie!
Everything about the evening exuded true Italian generosity and hospitality, from the wine, beer and cocktails, to the beautiful canapés. There are too many to mention, but my favourites were Pinza Diavola, a hand-pressed Italian flatbread, hot with spicy salami, ‘nduja, and chilli, but cooled with burrata cream and mozzarella, the perfect mix. Then the Tartufo, a truffle arancini with truffle aoili. I love the autumn when truffle abounds in good Italian restaurants. God bless truffle season, I say. Also the perfectly pink Tagliata di Manzo, Angus sirloin cooked expertly and served with salsa verde.
Piccolinos is an ideal place for a party or a date night, they would look after you so well whatever the occasion. To celebrate their 25th anniversary they are offering 2 courses of ‘Italian excellence’ for £25 on Fridays, but to be honest, any day is a good Piccolinos day. Their menus offer the best of Italian dining with a side of wonderful hospitality. But don’t take my word for it, get yourself a table booked soon and see for yourselves.
