White Wine / Sparkling Wine
Fortnum’s Bourgogne Blanc, Roger Luquet, 2023, 75cl, £18.50
This unoaked Chardonnay is a lovely white wine with flavours of ripe peach balanced by freshness and gentle citrus acidity, perfect to drink with our Traditional Scotch Eggs.
Fortnum’s Sancerre Blanc, Domaine Andre Dezat, 2023, 75cl, £22.50
This wine, is fermented in stainless steel tanks, so that the minerality comes to the forefront on the palate; the wine is scented with white flowers, herbs and citrus. It makes a beautiful match for shellfish, goat’s cheese, our Waxed Cheddar Truckle or asparagus.
Fortnum’s Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut Champagne, Maison Bonnet, NV, 75cl, £45
Golden in colour with complex notes of gooseberry, cherry, red apple and quince, Extra Brut Blanc de Noir Champagne makes a delicious aperitif and pairs perfectly with foods as varied as charcuterie and mushrooms.
Red Wine
Fortnum’s Margaux, Brio de Cantenac Brown, 2021, 75cl, £42.50
Our Margaux is sensual and alluring, with layers of cassis fruit and soft refined tannins on the finish. A delicious food wine that is ideal with roast beef.
Fortnum’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Andre Brunel, 2022, 75cl, £35
This opulent red wine, made from the area’s classic Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre blend and heady with plum, raspberry, vanilla and liquorice overlaid with a perfume of spice. This will go beautifully with game and with stronger-flavoured vegetable dishes.
Fortnum’s Chianti Classico, Riecine, 2022, 75cl, £22.95
Riecine utilises organic growing principles by sourcing the Sangiovese grapes from steep south-facing slopes on hills in and around the community of Gaiole. Tasting Notes: Dark cherry and plummy fruit with soft tannins and gorgeous acidity, and a touch of rich, dark chocolate at the finish.
Fortified / Sweet Wine
Fortnum’s Sauternes Château Briatte, 2021, 50cl, £17.95
This wonderfully sweet, golden nectar is produced from a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Delicious with foie gras or paired with a sweet pudding.
Fortnum’s Vintage Port, Niepoort, 2011, £45
This is a vintage port with a superb pedigree; rich and silky with flavours of sweet, dark fruits. It stood out immediately in our blind tastings at the Niepoort estate thanks to its vivid, fresh intense nose and its lovely, spicy structure.
