Katie Barrell visited The Lowry Theatre in Salford for the musical phenomenon, Les Misérables
This tour of Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables has been hailed as the revamp for the 21st century. I have seen this one time before a few years back and remember it being a breathtaking story that captures every emotion from you throughout the story and last night certainly did and was more enticing than ever. The staging and Individual performances from the cast really brought you into the world of the French Revolution.
Considered one of the greatest novels of 19th century. The story follows the life of Jean Valjean after being released from serving 19 years hard labour for stealing a loaf of bread. You follow him as the decisions he makes and the characters he meets along the way shape who he becomes while trying to escape from his past.
The new staging of this show really transports you into his world and the world of the people who lived during the revolution from both sides of the barricades. The hidden love stories that unfold will truly take your breath away and you will walk out with all the epic songs in your head for days.
Still showing at the Lowry till the 23rd April and is certainly one not to miss out on even if you have seen it before.
