My Life - Adele Gregson

We chat with Adele Gregson, Director of The Christmas Company

How would you describe yourself?

I have a creative eye and a love for the Christmas season. With over a decade of experience in this industry, I’m always motivated by the opportunity to constantly innovate, generating fresh ideas and witnessing the growth of our business.

Where is home? And work?

I live in the quiet village of Melling, Liverpool, and work across two locations in Liverpool and Lancashire.

What would you do to improve the area you live in?

Given that Christmas is a significant part of my work, I absolutely love the idea of having a large extravagant Christmas tree in our local area. Ever since I was young, I remember Christmas always being the time of year when everyone came together, and I think having something like this locally would really help build a stronger sense of community.

Name a few of your favourite places to be...

My favourite place has to be Lake Como – it’s so peaceful, and relaxing. The food is just fantastic.

I also have a love for my city and country breaks in the UK. I enjoy visiting the Lake District and, of course, London during the Christmas season! Once we wrap up our decorating season around the 18th of December, I make it a tradition to head to London for a few days to immerse myself in the festive decorations. I become like a Christmas decoration connoisseur, inspecting all the Christmas displays.

My favourite places to eat would have to be Moor Hall in Aughton and Cibo in Hale.

What or who inspires you?

One of my inspirations is Peter Jones; he has proven that hard work and integrity pay off.

I consider myself to be very fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet many successful people. Over the years, I’ve come to realise that hard work, ethics, and integrity are at the core of success. These are the main values we operate within my business.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

The last gift I gave was a wreath from the “Christmas in a Box” product, and I gave it to my cleaner.

Tell us a secret/fun fact?

I always used to lie about my age so that I could get a job! I always loved the idea of working and earning my own money.

What’s been your biggest life lesson?

My biggest life lesson is to never take anything for granted. Time is precious and things can change so quickly.

What’s on your Christmas list this year?

On my Christmas list this year is a new cherry picker…I never actually thought I’d say this!

How do you typically spend your Christmas Day?

By Christmas I am usually completely exhausted and haven’t seen my family or friends for a while, so I spend Christmas morning with my brother. I love cooking Christmas dinner and playing board games afterwards with a Baileys and nibbles.

Any top tips for surviving the festive period with family?

My top tips for surviving Christmas would be: don’t stress! You can always whizz around the Trafford Centre, like I do every year, and get most of what you need.

Also, try and buy presents which are already gift wrapped and packaged so it saves you a lot of time.
