Party Season Unwrapped

Top tips from professionals to create a season of comfort and joy

Entertaining at Home

‘For flawless festive entertaining, choose a theme and stick to it. From invitations (to give your guests a taster) to the finale - it’s all in the detail! Dress your table to perfection with beautiful glassware, charger plates and a show-stopping centrepiece. Keep your festive theme seamless - even down to scent. We love Gingerbread from A.H.O.M.E. which gives a warm, welcoming feel.’

Looking After Your Hair

  • ‘Only wash your hair three times a week to prevent it drying out in the cold, the less drying and heat you use the better.

  • Use sulphate-free shampoo; sulphates can strip your hair of its essential oils, vital to keep it from drying out.

  • Use the right products. Leave-in conditioners, Argan oils and heat protectors are best to keep your hair in tip-top condition.’

How To Entertain The Kids

‘It’s a magical time of the year for the little ones so throwing them a little party will have them excited for whatís to come. Make your own snow with baking soda and conditioner, decorate your own wreath and Christmas baubles or bake and decorate your own gingerbread house.’

What To Do With Your Leftovers

‘Christmas dinner leftovers are bursting with flavour and so versatile, perfect for getting creative. Although boxing day sandwiches are always a winner, there are endless pies, curries, salads and soups, to bring these delicious leftovers back to life. In my household, the favourite is my turkey, ham & chestnut filo parcels with a creamy tarragon sauce.’

Taking The Perfect Picture

‘Taking the perfect selfie this festive season will rely on these top tips to mastering your phone portraits.

  • A picture with your friend - First, get them to take it. They can have the massive arm and awkward side profile.

  • Pose - Stand behind, almost to the side, of your friend. This cuts you in half and allows you to drape or lean onto them. You look super natural at taking selfies.

  • Light - Don’t take a picture in the dark, move to daylight, for example a window.

  • Touch screen exposure - Did you know that if you touch the picture you are taking on the screen the image will get light or darker? This is called exposure.’

What To Have In Your Drinks Cabinet

‘Christmas is a time or indulgence and what better way to start the day than with a glass of Tanners Champagne (£25). Follow up with a White Burgundy, a particular favourite from Marcel et Blanche Fevre (£18.20). To perfectly end the day a Wine & Soul 10-year-old Tawny Port (£25) is a classic that works well with blue cheese.’
